Proper technique makes this dance euphoric. But it doesn’t have to be difficult, boring or tedious. We can unlock new territory in your dancing whether you are a brand-new beginner or a seasoned competitor. Fun and encouragement guaranteed!
Group Lessons
Not all instructors are equal. It is rare to find good dancers who are also truly good teachers. The earlier in your dance experience you are exposed to our technical instruction, the easier it will be to learn, and the more fun you will have. Our group classes are so entertaining, you will be shocked how much you are actually learning. Due to our demanding tour schedule, we are not currently offering any group classes, only private lessons. Should this change in the future, it will be posted here.

Private Lessons
Like a personal trainer or a tutor, private lessons are highly recommended for dancers of all levels (even beginners and instructors) who are serious about improving their dancing and want the most value for their money. This one-on-one personal feedback is by far the most effective and efficient method of learning.
We can give you access to technique and strategies not readily available from most instructors. We can help you create new possibilities in your dancing, at your own pace, your own level, and in your own style.

Workshops
Our niche in the West Coast Swing world is to introduce and explain the unique mechanics of West Coast Swing and the “rules of the game”. We go beyond the patterns and breakdown how to make the dance work properly. We focus more on organic, ergonomic, musical movement and give dancers access to essential, elusive technique. We are also big fans of FUN – educational entertainment. Our students typically leave our workshops and private lessons with a rejuvenated attitude towards their own dancing, and a better understanding and application of technique than they have gotten in the past 6 months (or 6 years) elsewhere. We want you to feel empowered and confident about your dance skills, because the better you feel, the more fun you and your partner will have.
Tessa is also a BC Certified Teacher, and works as a Teacher-on-Call in Coquitlam School District, #43. We created the Swing in Schools inreach program for two reasons:
To rescue PE teachers who are uncomfortable teaching dance and who want to provide their students with a more meaningful and practical skill than the Square Dancing they did in school.
To promote Swing dancing in general and West Coast Swing in particular, to the Arts community and to the youngest generation.
Being the youngest and most accredited partner dance instructors in Vancouver, Myles and Tessa have the unique key combination of:
The education and training for the BC school system
Superior class management skills
Being able to relate to the students
Being top professionals in their field
The Swing in Schools inreach program is customizable to the needs of the school and the individual teachers and students. It includes followup exercises for in the classroom as well as evaluation suggestions and tools. A variety of dance styles are available. In addition to teaching in the classroom, Myles and Tessa are also available for performances as part of a larger assembly, school dance, or concert.
Here are a few schools who have taken advantage of this program:
Prince George Secondary
College Heights Secondary
Maple Creek Middle
Hillcrest Middle
Carson Graham Sec. Dance
Southlands Elementary
Eric Hamber Secondary P.E.
Eric Hamber Secondary Dance
Fleetwood Park Secondary
Burnaby Central Secondary
Magee Secondary
Langley Secondary Musical Theatre
“Myles and Tessa are two of the hardest working professionals you will have on staff. They are not afraid to get technical, giving the students what they NEED to make their dance more FUN. Their deep technical understanding and magical comedic partnership allows them to deliver new technology to students, achieve maximum retention, and make it seem like a party. On post-event participant feedback forms, they are consistently ranked at the top of the list of "instructors you learned the most from". Known for their humble Canadian character and approachability, they stay on the social dance floor till the wee hours of the morning, dancing with beginners and peers alike. They are a “complete package” draw to the event: they perform, they teach, they judge, and they social dance.”
