Canadian Swing Champions

On the international West Coast Swing circuit, there are 2 types of competitions: improvised and choreographed. There are multiple divisions of each type, which are determined by ability level and by content rules.

Showcase: This is a choreographed division in which we perform a 3 minute routine to a pre-arranged piece of music (like figure skating). This is the only Swing division which allows lifts. We are currently ranked in the top 5 in the world according to NASDE standings, we compete against other Champion dancers such as Parker Dearborn & Jessica Cox, and Arjay Centeno & Melissa Rutz

Cabaret: This is a choreographed division which is more rarely offered on the circuit. It allows any and all types of dancing EXCEPT swing. It invites Hip Hop, Tap, Adagio, Ballroom, and Jazz to compete against each other. We compete in this division with our adagio routine.

Champions: This is the highest level of improvised competition. Qualification for this division is based on the accumulation of points aquired for high placement in competitions. We compete in the Champions division for Jack & Jills and Strictly Swing, among other Champions such as Jordan Frisbee & Tatiana Mollmann, and Kyle Redd & Sarah Vann Drake.

Jack & Jill: An improvised competition in which partners are drawn randomly, and music is selected randomly. A true test for raw dance skill, this type of compeition is held in very high regard.

Strictly Swing: Like the Jack & Jill, except you arrange your choice of partner in advance.
