We are proud to offer the world's first ever...
WEBCAST DANCE LESSONS
Our travel schedule only allows us to teach
workshops in a limited number of times per year. In order to work with individual students and dance communities outside
Vancouver on a more regular basis, we are proud to pioneer this innovative instruction delivery method. The first webcast
dance lesson made history on May 1st, 2006. It recevied lots of positive feedback and has been featured in Swing-Dancer Magazine,www.swing-dancer.com
What
is it?
A monthly one hour lesson delivered via live webcast. A webcast acts like a telephone through your computer, with
live video attached. This means that you can not only learn from us live from your living room miles away, but you can interact instantly
with us if you have questions. This is a great way for dancers in remote areas to get access to top level instruction, for
students/fans of ours to learn from us when we can't be there in person, and for instructors to anonymously pick up some new
teaching tips and moves!
When are the lessons?
The first Monday of every month, 6-7pm North American Pacific time.
What
are the lessons like?
We spend the first 20 minutes teaching techniques required to execute the moves we're about to teach. Then 30
minutes of movements or patterns which apply these techniques, following by a 10 minute Q&A period. Students can instant-text
questions during the class, or use their own microphones and webcams to interact with us. We have a different theme each month.
Here are a few titles we've done:
Puppetry...of the Dancer
Make the Music Move You
Lower Body Lubrication
Ambidextrous Flexibility
Suprise
Direction Changes
How do I get access?
The webcasts will be accessible by Extreme Swing Club Premium members only. There are no other students
in the room with us, and you have to be a member and RSVP to the invitation to get the password to the webcast. A one-year Premium
membership is $50usd, and includes discounts on private lessons, videos, and more. It works out to less than $5 per lesson just for
the webcasts alone!
What do I need to make it work?
Your PC computer just needs to have internet access (preferably hi-speed or
broadband) and video-playing capability. Having a microphone or webcam is a bonus, but not necessary. Having a dance partner is a
bonus, but not necessary. Having your computer next to your dance space is a bonus, but not necessary.
What if I can't
make the class time? Will the lessons be archived?
Like a regular group class, you should make an appointment with yourself to be there.
If you can't make it, you can't make it. The whole point of the live webcast is that it is LIVE and INTERACTIVE. If you are looking
for pre-recorded lessons to view at your leisure, please see our selection of instructional videos.
What's the procedure?
The
webcast lessons are held on the first Monday of every month, 6-7pm Pacific Time. when you purchase your membership, you will
automatically be on our X-Swing list. A few days before each webcast, we will send out an email invitation to this list to participate
in the upcoming webcast lesson. You MUST reply to RSVP, then we will send you the password and instructions to get access
to the webcast. If the classroom fills up, we will open a second timeslot, so we need to know in advance how many people to expect.
Can
I get a group together?
If you are a member of a community Swing Club or Instructional Team, contact us for a group conference quote.
Monthly Webcasts are on hiatus while we upgrade our service provider.
Private lessons are still available via webcast. Please
inquire.
