West Coast Swing is the most modern evolution of Swing, born from the historically preserved Lindy Hop. Following the music trends of each decade, it adjusts to accommodate new dance styles, adopting Disco, Hustle, Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary into its stylings. Focused on improvisation and musical interpretation, it is the most versatile and free partner dance in existence. It offers the most balanced conversation between the leader and follower, and encourages personal expression by both. West Coast Swing has been enjoyed by thousands of dancers of all ages in North America for decades, but predominantly "underground". It is enjoying the partner dance media craze, being featured on “Dancing With the Stars”, “So You Think You Can Dance”, and most recently, the feature film, “Love n’ Dancing”. Thanks to You Tube, this hard-to-explain-till-you-see-it dance is exploding across Europe, where social dancers are craving the dynamic, passionate, effortless look of West Coast Swing. The key to getting the style right is in the technique, and dance schools are wasting no time importing top professional talent from North America to build a West Coast Swing scene on a solid foundation. West Coast Swing is known as the dancers’ dance: new dancers will try the Ballroom dances, maybe dabble in Modern Jive or Salsa, but when they find West Coast Swing, they'll fall in love.
